067: Weekend crime report (29-01-2023)



Tsumkwe, rape and murder, Friday, 27 January 2023, around 08h00 near SWAPO office, Otjozondjupa Region.


It is alleged that a 45-year old Namibian female was raped and killed after her lifeless body was discovered laying in the bush between the SWAPO office and the NBC building.


The deceased’s body was in a pool of blood on the side of the head and was half naked. It is further alleged that the deceased might have been raped and murdered on Thursday night, 26th January 2023.


Investigations led to the arrest of two Namibian male suspects aged; 27 and 30. A knife with blood was discovered at the house where the two suspects spent the night. Further, a jean trouser and a belt with blood stains belonging to one of the suspects was also found at the house where the knife was found.


All the exhibits were booked in pending forensic examination. The next of kin have been informed, and suspects will appear at Rundu Magistrates Court on Monday, 30. 01.2023. Police investigation continues.


Kalkrand, Stock theft, Saturday, 28 January 2023 at about 08:00 at farm Gaudini, Kalkrand.


It is alleged that unknown suspects stole and slaughtered two sheep at Farm Gaudini after workers of Kalahari Red dunes lodge found two (2) sheep skins at the railway line.


The matter was attended by the police who found two shoeprints at the scene, the same footprints could be observed about 5km at the camp of farm Gaudini where the suspects removed the livestock and slaughtered one sheep near C-21 gravel road east of Kalkrand. Estimated value is N$ 3600.00. No arrest has been made. Police investigation continues.
