067-community take stand against crime
Several horse saddles, bridles, and equipment worth more than N$100 000 were reco-vered after being stolen on Sunday night 14 April from the Chahanic Equestrian Center on a farm outside Grootfontein.

However, prompt action by a neighborhood watch from the town's informal settlement Blikkiesdorp, calling them-selves the Community Against Crime, as well as private individuals and security com-panies led to the arrest of the alleged thief.
At the same time the nine horse saddles and other stolen equipment were recovered sucessfully.
The center, owned by Chanté Nell and Megan Wise and often the place where children receive horse riding lessons, offered a N$10 000 reward for information leading to the successful apprehension of the alleged thief.
It was decided the money will be paid out to the Community Against Crime group.
Chanté thanked those invol-ved - naming Jeremia Ulika, Rinus Ras and Johannes Kriel, who took the lead, as well as the anti-poaching Belgian Melanois dog, Troy.
Troy was injured by two gun shots during the operation.
